Hemp. An American Original.
Long before it became a buzzword, hemp was part of the American story. Valued for its strength, durability, and versatility, it was a natural choice for workwear and everyday utility.
At Save Khaki United, we've always believed in natural fibers or comfort. While cotton has been our foundation for over two decades, hemp has become an essential part of our lounge collection.
Blended with organic cotton, hemp creates garments that are breathable, naturally textured, and incredibly comfortable. They soften with every wash while maintaining the durability to be worn season after season.
Hemp is a sustainable crop.
The Hemp plant repels most insects, fungi, and microbes; therefore, it is grown without pesticides or herbicides. It is also well known that hemp farming requires little water and doesn't need synthetic fertilizers to thrive. Some study shows, hemp has the potential to improve soil health and water quality in our fields and rivers.*
And yes, it is naturally antibacterial.
Further studies show hemp fabric is antibacterial and hypoallergenic because some cannabinoids extracted from hemp show excellent antibacterial activity*
Hemp is textural.
For SKU, we like to blend hemp fibers with cotton. This way, we can have the best qualities of the two: the softness of cotton and the texture of hemp. When washed and dyed, the slub of the hemp and the smooth cotton separate and come together to create a soft color high-low that is dimensional and full of character.
